Drone Advisory Committee (DAC)

The establishment of the Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) was announced by FAA Administrator Michael Huerta at the AUVSI Conference on May 4th, 2016. This Federal Advisory committee was formed to provide an open venue for the FAA and key decision-makers supporting the safe introduction of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System (NAS). Members on the Committee work in partnership with the FAA to identify and propose actions to the FAA on how best to facilitate the resolution of issues affecting the efficiency and safety of integrating UAS into the NAS.

The DAC operates in a transparent manner and leverages the RTCA expertise and state-of-the-art facilities and tools to enable responsive and inclusive coordination across stakeholders with wide-ranging philosophical positions based in many different geographic locations. It strives to be flexible and responsive, responding to tasks in as short an amount of time as possible.

Supporting the DAC is the Drone Advisory Committee Sub-Committee (DACSC), made up of the organizations of the DAC and additional industry members. The DACSC provides the detailed technical analysis required for the DAC to be successful.
