SC-209, ATCRBS/Mode S Transponder, established January 7, 2005, completed DO-181E, Minimum Operational Performance Standards for Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System/Mode Select (ATCRBS/Mode S) Airborne Equipment. DO-181E includes the decisions on 1090 Extended Squitter that resulted from updating DO-260A to DO-260B, Minimum Operational Performance Standards for 1090 MHz Extended Squitter Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B) and Traffic Information Services – Broadcast (TIS-B). The Committee is monitoring ICAO and industry Mode S developments and is working towards a revised version of DO-181E in 2019.

In addition, the SC-209 has joined with SC-186 (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)) and EUROCAE WG 51 and WG-49 to form a super-group, the goal of which is to increase communication across the membership of committees developing standards for surveillance.
